Giant Acoma Parrot and Rainbow Storage Jar by Joseph and Barbara Cerno new

This huge Acoma polychrome storage jar was made by master potters Joseph and Barbara Cerno, and purchased from them by the Eiteljorg family at Santa Fe Indian Market in 1998. The jar is a superior example of the giant storage jars that the husband and wife pottery team were making in the late 1990s and early 2000s. The traditional parrot and rainbow design, which Joseph perfected painting freehand, covers the handsome jar, which has an unusually narrow base. The jar is thinly-potted, traditionally-molded and painted, and kiln-fired. Joseph and Barbara Cerno are considered to be the best living Pueblo potters, and this jar is at the masterpiece level. The jar measures 25” height and 23” diameter, and is in excellent, original condition.
