Hopi-Navajo Seed Jar with Sikyatki Revival Design by Nathan Begaye

This is a yellowware seed jar by Hopi-Navajo master potter, Nathan Begaye (1958-2010), signed and dated 3-29-93 by the artist. Here, Nathan has taken traditional Sikyatki design elements of feathers and birds, and transformed them into his own original design. The clay in the design has been double-applied, as it has extra thickness resulting in an interesting deep patina and a beautiful tonality from traditional firing. The jar is in excellent, original condition from a private collection in Santa Fe, and measures 5" height and 10" diameter. Read more about Nathan Begaye here: elmoreindianart.com/Detailed/4500.html
