Hopi Bowl with Double Birds by Nyla Sahmie updated

This is an open bowl made by Nyla Sahmie and fired in 2012. Nyla Sahmie is a fifth generation master potter, and the great-great-granddaughter of Nampeyo (1856-1942), the matriarch of Hopi pottery. This bowl features the popular double bird design, which is a Sikyatki design that has been interpreted many times and is one of the "standards" of the Sikyatki Revival designs. "Raindrops" decorate the bowl's rim. The bowl measures 1 3/4" height and 5 3/4" diameter, and is in excellent original condition. It is clearly signed "Nyla."
