A classic Hopi embroidered manta c.1920 and in excellent condition with alternating butterfly and cloud motifs. These types of textiles are used at the other Rio Grande Pueblos as well but most are made at Hopi. Sometimes they are reffered to as Wedding Mantas and also as Kachina capes depending on their use. It is made of both handspun and machine spun cotton with commercial yarn embroidery, a truly exceptional example.
