This is an exceptional Hopi silver overlay buckle by Lawrence Saufkie, son of Paul Saufkie, one of the original founders of Hopi overlay jewelry. The design features a happy koshare/mudhead lying underneath a rainbow with lightning on each side.Measures 3 1/2" long by 2" high. The bail for the belt strap is 1 3/4" wide. Excellent older piece with minor wear. Clearly hallmarked with Saufkie's bear mark on the back.
