Zia Polychrome Olla, c. 1920
11.25 inches diameter
by Martina Galvan PinoMartina Pino made pots for many decades of her life, yet we can accurately date this pot based on the distinctive buff slip which appeared at Zia in the late teens or early 1920s, probably as an attempt to add more color to their palette and as a way to distinguish their pottery style. Note again how the more bulbous form of earlier days is replaced by the tall Tunyo neck giving it a vase like presence.
